Loblaws is spreading its support for Pride Month in one of the best ways it knows how – with food.
The Loblaws Maple Leaf Gardens location is currently featuring a slew of Pride-inspired goodies that include:
- Colouful fruit skewers in produce
- Bright rainbow cupcakes, éclairs, bagels, cakes, cookies and chocolates at the bakery
- Two different types of From Our Chefs™ fresh made in-store stone oven baked pizzas
- Rainbow-themed sausages
Gino Greco, the store manager at Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens said that so far they’ve all been well received. When asked what sparked the initiative, Greco had this positive insight to share:
“We think it’s important to show our support for the LGBTQA community both through the events we put on at the store and with our food. Our departments are passionate about Pride and we encourage our colleagues to show it in any way they can.”
All this week, Loblaws has also been hosting free dining events called Come Eat With Us. Between 5-7 pm from June 27 to July 1, they’ve been encouraging people to come down to the store to enjoy a free chef-prepared meal and partake in conversations around diversity. The dinners, hosted by Daniel Pillai, appropriately use the hashtags #comeeatwithus and #dinefordiversity and look something like this:
