Toronto loves its light festivals.

Earlier this year, the city hosted its first 45-day Toronto Light Fest in the Distillery District. And now, it looks like there will be a lantern festival taking place about two hours from the city.

The Lights Fest website has confirmed a “Toronto date,” although the event itself will be held at Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, near Brantford.

The massive festival involves lanterns and public participation. Each ticket, which starts at $35 US (about $47 with current exchange rate), includes a lantern, marker, and key chain flashlight handed to participants at the event. The lantern launch takes place in the evening, and will be weather dependent. Besides weather, organizers also note that this will be depending on “the fire marshal’s approval.”

So what is The Lights Fest?

According to organizers, “The Lights Fest is an experience where thousands of friends and families gather to listen to live music, fill up on food trucks and light up life by sharing personal wishes, dreams and goals.”

Let’s see if the fire marshal agrees with those goals…
