Toronto Maple Leafs forward Calle Jarnkrok is on the mend, but it might still be a while before he’s ready to hit the ice once again.
Today, the Leafs announced that Jarnkrok underwent groin and sports hernia surgery, and will be out “month-to-month” in his recovery.

Jarnkrok has yet to play this season while dealing with his injuries. He is signed through the end of the 2025-26 season, with an annual average value of $2.1 million on his deal. Over the past two seasons, he has 30 goals and 30 assists in 125 games for Toronto.
What is his timeline for a return to the Leafs?
Not much has been said about when Jarnkrok will next suit up for the blue and white.
The 33-year-old Swedish forward had skated earlier in the month, but it appears surgery was the best option to get his NHL career back on track.
“It is a tough one right now. I can’t give you a timeline for him. He is probably a ways away still,” Leafs coach Craig Berube told reporters on November 8.
Toronto general manager Brad Treliving revealed last week that Jarnkrok went to a specialist in New York after suffering a setback in his recovery.
Despite Jarnkrok’s absence — and Leafs captain Auston Matthews as well — the team has been performing quite well in the early stages of this season. They currently hold an 11-6-2 record, good enough for second in the Atlantic Division and eighth in the NHL.
Toronto returns to action this week against the Vegas Golden Knights, hosting them on Wednesday evening.
