How to watch tonight's Leafs-Blackhawks game that's not on TV

The Toronto Maple Leafs will face one of their longest-standing opponents on Monday night when the Chicago Blackhawks come to town.

But unless you’ve been lucky enough to score a ticket to catch the action at Scotiabank Arena, there’s a bit of an added step to watch tonight’s game.

Rather than being broadcast on linear television, tonight’s game is only available in Canada on the streaming service Prime Video, as part of a deal brokered by the NHL for Monday night games this season and next.

How much does it cost to watch Leafs-Blackhawks?

Prime’s Monday Night Hockey content is available to anyone in Ontario and the rest of Canada with an internet connection and an Amazon Prime account. Prime members will receive the games at no extra cost, while subscriptions are $9.99 monthly or $99 annually for new customers.

The good news is that most major devices can access the Prime Video app as long as they have a stable internet connection, with a full list of available devices here.

Tonight’s contest is the fourth of six Leafs games on Prime Video, with Sportsnet Ontario (14 games) and TSN (26 games) splitting the club’s regional broadcasts.

The remaining Leafs games will be English-streaming-only broadcasts on Prime on January 20 (Tampa Bay), March 3 (San Jose), and March 17 (Calgary).

The Leafs are on a roll right now, having won an NHL-best eight of their last 10 games. The Blackhawks can’t quite say the same: with just 18 points in 24 contests this year, Chicago sits in last place in the entire NHL.

Puck drop is set for 7:30 pm ET between the two Original Six sides.
