Toronto Maple Leafs tied for most streaming-only games among Canadian teams

The Toronto Maple Leafs are a few months away from taking the ice, but we’ve got a bit of a clearer picture of how exactly we’ll be watching them next season.
Today, the Amazon-owned Prime Video streaming service announced its schedule for the second season of Monday Night Hockey, which includes six Leafs games that are tied for a league-high.
Toronto starts the weekly national broadcasts off with a game against the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 13, and closes them exactly six months later on April 13 against the Dallas Stars.
Here’s how many games each Canadian team will be playing on Prime next season:
- Toronto Maple Leafs, six
- Ottawa Senators, six
- Vancouver Canucks, four
- Montreal Canadiens, four
- Winnipeg Jets, four
- Edmonton Oilers, three
- Calgary Flames, two

“I feel a ton of responsibility because of the nature of who we’re broadcasting to,” Prime Video broadcaster John Forslund said about Canadian hockey fans in an interview with Offside last season. “We don’t have a set plan [of how the broadcast will go]. So when you don’t have a set plan, you kind of move very quickly.”

“When you think about what types of content customers like to consume, it doesn’t get much bigger than hockey in Canada,” Prime Video Canada head Mark Shopiro added last year. “We’re happy with how [the NHL broadcasts have] enhanced the value of the Prime membership for Prime customers, and excited for how it’s come to life… I think one of the things that we’re focused on is getting the game right for customers.”
