The Toronto Blue Jays appear to have a new opening among their staff for next season.

Kevin Kiermaier, the former MLB outfielder who spent this past season as special assistant to the Blue Jays, posted a video to social media this week looking for a new role in the league.

“To all 30 MLB teams out there. I’m being creative here, but just need to get the word out,” Kiermaier wrote on X. “I wanna revolutionize outfield defence on many levels. No one loves this stuff like I do! I wanna change players’ lives/careers by maximizing defensive potential! My obsession! Let’s go!”

Kiermaier said he’s looking to work with as many teams as possible next season. Known as one of the best defensive fielders of all time, Kiermaier said he’s looking to consult on a short-term basis to spread his knowledge across the MLB.

“I don’t want to commit to one organization necessarily. I want to see how many organizations out there would love to have me around for like, five days at a time,” he said.

“I’m going to give it my all for the five days that I’m there. And I know in that amount of time, I can go through everything with the outfielders and get them routines, throwing programs, the way we go about drills, batting practice, all this stuff is so crucial and so overlooked in so many ways.”

Kiermaier also touched a bit on his role with the Blue Jays in the video, which appeared to be a pretty part-time gig.

“It was great. It was a dream job that I asked to make my own schedule and my availability, this and that. I said, ‘I want to feel retired, but I still want to work a little bit,'” he said.

The MLB vet spent parts of two seasons in 2023 and 2024 in Toronto. Kiermaier batted .240 with 137 hits, 12 homers, 54 RBIs, and 82 runs scored in 211 games for the Blue Jays in his career.

Kiermaier was actually a member of Toronto’s newest rival in his last season, after the Blue Jays traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the 2024 deadline, where he ended up winning the World Series.
