Jean Yip has won the federal byelection race as MP for Scarborough Agincourt.
Yip’s victory has her replacing her late husband, Arnold Chan, who passed away after a battle with cancer in September.
Described as a devoted community leader, Yip was born and raised in Scarborough —Agincourt. In recent years prior to Chan’s passing, she stepped up as a partner with her husband in serving the local community.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated Yip in a tweet, and welcomed her, along with other Liberal by-election winners Gordie Hogg and Churence Rogers, to the Parliamentary family.
New faces joining the Liberal team! Congratulations and welcome to our Parliamentary family @JeanYip3, @GordieHogg, and @ChurenceRogers. We’re looking forward to seeing you in the House soon.
