Jan 15 2021, 9:11 pm

You can enjoy a virtual getaway this month from the comfort of your own home while trying some delicious Jamaican cuisine.

Jamaica in January is a free hour-long event where you can embrace Jamaican culture through stories, poems, songs, riddles, and giveaways too!

There will also be a liquor and food pairing session, including a food demo by chef Noel Cunningham of Cuisine by Noel.

Registrants can order the special “Jamaica in a Box” to partake in the pairing, which you can order before, during, or after the event.

Choices are Jamaican Stew Peas 3 Ways: Stew Peas the old fashion way with Pig’s Tail, Stew Peas with Salt Beef or Ital (Vegetarian) Stew Peas. You can also order Jerk chicken, curry chicken or curry goat.

The box also comes with your choice of either Jamaican Rum cake, cheesecake or coconut mango pound cake and a drink, either Ginger Beer or Sorrel.

If you can’t make the event, you can still order one of the “Jamaica in a Box” meals which also come with beautiful postcards and Jamaican Coconut drops.

Curbside pick up for the meals is available on January 31 from 2:30 pm to 4 pm at 300 College Street.

There are a bunch of prizes to be won from bottles of rum to board games and more.

Tickets are available online for food orders and event registration.
