How much Leafs players are expected to make in free agency

The Toronto Maple Leafs are heading into the offseason with some major moves to be made this summer.

But while we’ve been hearing about all sorts of rumours ever since the team was eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs by the Boston Bruins, no real big transactions have come to light for the team over the last few months.

But thanks to the wonders of modern internet sleuths, we might at least have a bit of an idea of what Toronto’s free agents will be signing for this summer.

The folks over at AFP Analytics have created a contract projection model, suggesting, based on factors like age, past contract, and point production, what each free agent in the NHL is likely to make on their next contract.

It should go without saying that no model is perfect, and they’re obviously not going to be 100% accurate. But at the very least, here’s a look at how much each Leaf heading to free agency is expected to command on their next deal:

• Joel Edmundson, one year at $1,688,993.10
• Mark Giordano, one year at $1,521,422.23
• John Klingberg, one year at $1,646,040.00
• Timothy Liljegren had two options: four years at $4,101,182.60 or one year at $3,179,823.64.
• Ilya Lyubushkin, one year at $1,474,573.92
• Maxime Lajoie, one year at $813,750.00

• Tyler Bertuzzi, four years at $5,291,440.00
• Connor Dewar, two years at $1,423,221.62
• Max Domi, two years at $3,587,885.72
