Hockey Canada reveals 42 NHL players picked for Olympic camp roster

The Canadian Olympic hockey roster is coming a little closer to taking shape.
Today, Hockey Canada named a group of players for its off-ice orientation camp with the national teams, set for Aug. 26 to 28 in Calgary.
30 women (including 27 PWHL players), 42 men (all of whom are on NHL rosters), and 20 potential Paralympic sledge hockey players have been invited out to the camp.
It is the first Olympics since 2014 that NHL players are set to participate in. Though they had initially talked about going in 2022, they pulled out due to COVID-19 concerns.
Canada is the defending gold medalist on the women’s side, having won five of seven all-time titles in the event since it was introduced in 1998.
On the men’s side, Canada is looking to get back on the podium, being held off in 2022 (with a team made up of non-NHL players) for the first time since 2006.
