Are you all about that business life? Does finance really do it for you? Maybe images of Wall Street get you all fired up, or perhaps you’re inspired by entrepreneurship and you dream of being the next Gary Vee, Oprah Winfrey, or Steve Jobs.

Whether you’re stuck in a job you don’t love and are looking to pivot into your dream job, or you’re already on your way to the top and want something to give you a leading edge, an MBA can give you the career you’ve always wanted (and will have you springing out of bed instead of snoozing five times).

Interested in seeing what getting an MBA is all about? The QS World MBA Tour is the world’s largest MBA tour and it’s coming to Toronto on January 18. It’s the perfect opportunity to see if an MBA is the right degree for you. At the event, you’ll also receive a LinkedIn headshot, resume review, access to a pool of scholarships totalling $7 million USD, and more. Plus, it’s free to attend!

Can’t wait to see what type of job an MBA could get you? We’ve compiled a list of some of the awesome positions you could be working in.

Investment banker

One of the first jobs that probably springs to mind when you think of an MBA is an investment banker. If you love nothing more than getting into the nitty-gritty of an Excel spreadsheet and the thought of helping companies and government agencies raise money interests you, investment banking could just be your calling.

An MBA program that focuses on finance will give you the confidence to provide strategic advice to your future clients. Work hard and you could be earning $80,000 per year — the average salary for investment bankers in Canada. If that isn’t motivation to get an MBA, we don’t know what is.

Marketing director

If you’re looking to combine your love of marketing with a leadership position, a career as a marketing director could be just right for you. The position oversees a company’s marketing policies, market research, and marketing plans for products and services, and you could be earning a swell $125,000 per year. Where do we sign up?

Business owner

If you’ve always dreamed of having your own business, but have always been a bit intimidated, an MBA will push you outside your comfort zone and give you the confidence to make the jump. You’ll not only get up-to-date with the latest trends in business, but you’ll also become confident with how you handle finances.

The best part? Depending on the success of your business, the sky is the limit when it comes to your salary.

Consulting partner

If you prefer working with people to help them achieve their goals and are also great at thinking ahead to potential problems, a consulting partner could be the perfect job for you. A consulting partner spends time with clients and teams and looks ahead to forecast any challenges they could face in the future. An MBA is a perfect degree to get you there and, in Canada, they earn on average $110,000 per year.

Information technology (IT) director

If you have a passion for IT, perhaps a career as an IT director could be for you. IT directors develop and put in place goals for the whole IT department and analyze the company’s IT needs.

Get an MBA with a concentration in IT management and you could be working as an IT director with an average salary of approximately $133,000.
