High Park cherry blossoms are now officially in "peak bloom"

Apr 25 2017, 2:38 am

Keeping up with this cherry blossom business is hard.

While High Park – and indeed, the rest of the city – was a madhouse over the weekend, the cherry blossoms, while worth the Instagram effort, hadn’t actually reached ‘peak bloom’ yet.

That happened today.

According to Sakura Steve, the keeper of all High Park cherry blossom knowledge, peak bloom was only achieved in the Park today. In an Instagram post, Steve points out that:

Sakura Watch April 24, 2017 – peak bloom has started! I will be in the park later this evening to take photos, but wanted to announce to everyone who wanted to get out today that it may be your best day this week.

Rain is being forecast for tomorrow, but it’s light and shouldn’t lock down too many blossoms. Thursday is so far calling for heavier rains which might diminish viewing going into Friday and the weekend.

So if you missed it over the weekend or you’re just a peak bloom junkie, tonight’s the night for you.

I will be updating again tonight and again I encourage anyone viewing today to share a photo and where you are in the park. Remember the park is busy at peak bloom so walk, bike or TTC if you can!
