Calling all you ghosts and ghouls: spooky season is nigh, and Toronto’s full of Halloween pop-ups and events for you to get your treats in.

We may be too old to go trick-or-treating, much to our chagrin, but that doesn’t mean that October has to be completely devoid of festive feasts and scary snacks.

In fact, Toronto is going to be absolutely brimming with spook-tacular Halloween-themed pop-ups and events that specialize specifically in letting grown-ups get in on the freaky fun.

From horror-themed bars to murder mystery dinners, you’ve got your pick of the litter for ways to get in the spirit before Oct. 31, so here’s our round-up of Halloween pop-ups and food events you need to check out this season.

Black Lagoon

This annual pop-up has been taking over bars across North America every October since 2021, and the best part of all is that it started in Toronto.

This year, you can catch it at The Walrus, transforming the bar into a space straight out of your nightmares, with creative, creepy cocktails served in kitschy cups and dreadful (in a good way) decor from floor to ceiling.

When:Ā Oct. 1 to Nov. 2

Where:Ā The Walrus — 187 Bay St.

Admission:Ā Free

What would Halloween be without a couple of tricks? We kind of tricked you with this one. While Legends of Horror is technically a haunted attraction that transforms Casa Loma (which is allegedly actually haunted) into a creepy castle, it does feature a full bar as part of the fun.

At the halfway point of your walkthrough, you’ll enter a funky party pad with periodic live music and DJs, spooky decor and the occasional scare actor waiting to give you a fright. Oh, there’s also a bounty of light bites and cocktails on offer, too, in case you need some liquid courage before venturing forth.

When:Ā Oct. 4 to Nov. 1

Where:Ā Casa Loma — 1 Austin Terrace

Admission:Ā From $40

The Burton Experience

When binge-watching your favourite Tim Burton classics doesn’t completely scratch that itch, this immersive dining event will drop you directly into the whimsical and wicked world of the iconic director.

Meet some of your favourite characters like Beetlejuice and Wednesday Addams while immersing yourself in creepy-cool scenes and tucking into a curated food and beverage menu for a night that’s at once spooky and stupendous.

When:Ā Select dates in October, starting Oct. 4

Where:Ā Novotel Toronto Centre — 45 The Esplanade

Admission:Ā From $20

Toronto’s beloved Offworld Bar may be gone for good, but, like any good horror movie killer, it’s coming back for one last scare with the return of its beloved Halloween pop-up, Hellbar.

Touted as “Toronto’s most satanic pop-up,” this experience serves a selection of “devilish drinks” amid fiery interiors that would make Hades himself feel right at home for the last two weeks of October.

When:Ā Oct. 15 to 31

Where:Ā Offworld Bar — 793 Queen St. W.

Admission:Ā Free, by reservation
