FreshCo and Fortinos among grocery stores reporting employee COVID-19 cases

As Toronto and the GTA report new COVID-19 cases, grocery stores in the area have also reported a few cases in the last couple of days.

As for Loblaws, the parent company to several grocery chains reported seven stores across the region having employees who tested positive for the virus.

On March 5, a Dave and Charlotte’s No Frills employee at 70 Island Road in Scarborough reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on February 26.

The next day, on March 6, two employees at a Fortinos, 2911 Major Mackenzie Drive West in Vaughan, were reported to have tested positive on presumptive tests for the virus. They had last worked on February 26 and February 28, respectively.

On March 6, an employee at the Real Canadian Superstore, 2549 Weston Road, was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on February 25.

Again on March 6, an employee at Loblaws, 60 Carlton Street, was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on February 28.

At Sheriff’s No Frills, 1530 Albion Road, an employee reported on March 6 testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on March 1.

On March 7, an employee at Fortinos, 55 Mountainash Road, was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on February 26.

The same day, an employee at a Fortinos, 60 Quarry Edge Drive in Brampton, was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on February 26.

Sobeys also reported three positive COVID-19 cases at several of its grocery stores.

On March 6, an employee at the Sobeys located at 5602 Tenth Line West in Mississauga was reported testing positive for COVID-19. They had last worked on February 28.

Once again, on March 6, an employee at the 3737 Major Mackenzie Drive FreshCo in Woodbridge reported testing positive for COVID-19. They had last worked on February 24.

On March 6, a FreshCo employee at 8405 Financial Drive in Brampton reported testing positive for COVID-19. They had last worked on March 1.

In an effort for transparency, Loblaws regularly updates their coronavirus cases in stores by province within the last 15 days and Sobey’s within 14 days.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores and T&T stores across Canada,” said Loblaws.
