Loblaws and No Frills employees test positive for COVID-19

In the last few days, over 10 Toronto and GTA grocery store locations have reported employees testing positive for COVID-19.

Metro continues to update its COVID-19 advisory page and has recently updated the list.

On December 29, an employee at a Food Basics at 900 Albion Road tested positive for COVID-19. The last day they had worked was on December 26.

As for other grocers such as Sobeys, five employees were confirmed to have tested positive for the virus on Sunday.

On January 3, an employee at a FreshCo at 7205 Goreway Drive in Mississauga tested positive for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 27.

Another FreshCo location, 3737 Major Mackenzie Drive, reported an employee tested positive for the virus. They had last worked on December 29.

In Mississauga, an employee at a FreshCo at 6040 Glen Erin Drive tested positive for COVID-19 and had last worked on December 28.

In Brampton, an employee at a FreshCo at 380 Bovaird Drive East reported testing positive for COVID-19 and had last worked on December 24.

Another FreshCo location in Brampton, 8975 Chinguacousy Road, reported an employee testing positive for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 29.

Sobeys

As for Loblaws locations, several cases were reported on January 5 across Toronto and the GTA.

A Real Canadian Superstore at 51 Gerry Fitzgerald Drive in Toronto reported two employees testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 26 and 27.

In Vaughan, a Fortinos location at 8585 Highway 27 reported multiple team members testing positive on presumptive tests for COVID-19.

A Loblaws at 60 Carlton Street reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. The last day they worked was December 26.

In Mississauga, an employee at Tom & Michelle’s No Frills, 6085 Creditview Road, tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. The employee had last worked on December 31.

An employee at Nick and Mira’s No Frills, 1450 Lawrence Avenue East, reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 30.

Metro has previously shared coronavirus cases at locations including Parkway Mall, Queen West, Bloor and Spadina, College and Shaw, The Cold Chain Produce Distribution Centre, and more.

“We will always contact and follow the guidance of Public Health to ensure the safety of our teammates and customers whenever we are made aware of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in one of our food stores or distribution centres,” reads Metro’s website.

In an effort for transparency, Loblaws regularly updates their coronavirus cases in stores by province within the last 15 days, as well as Sobey’s for the last 14 days.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores, and T&T stores across Canada,” Loblaws said.
