Toronto area Loblaws employees report testing positive for COVID-19

More than 15 Loblaws grocery store employees across Toronto and the GTA have reported testing positive for COVID-19 in the last two days.

According to Loblaws Ltd., several of its grocery stores including Fortinos, No Frills, and Real Canadian Superstore, have reported positive COVID-19 results among its staff since Wednesday.

On January 20, three employees at a Fortinos, 700 Lawrence Avenue West in North York, reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on January 12, 14, and 18, respectively.

That same day, an employee from a Loblaws located at 3671 Dundas Street West in Etobicoke, tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus and had last worked on January 16.

Another Fortinos employee, this time at 55 Mountainash Road in Brampton reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19, on January 20. They had last worked on January 15.

The same day, in Toronto, two employees at Jason’s No Frills, 1951 Eglinton Avenue West,  reported testing positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on January 15 and 18.

Two employees from Mario & Selina’s No Frills at 220 Royal York Road in Etobicoke reported testing positive for COVID-19, on January 20. They had last worked on January 12 and 16.

The next day, on January 21, multiple employees at a Fortinos location, 8585 Highway 27 in Vaughan, tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19.

In Brampton, that same day, three Real Canadian Superstore employees at 85 Steeles Avenue West, reported testing positive on a presumptive test for the virus. The last day they had worked was on January 9 for two and January 14 for the third affected employee.

In North York, on January 21, an employee at a No Frills located at 1450 Lawrence Avenue East reported testing positive. The employee had last worked on January 17.

At Matt’s No Frills in Toronto, 449 Parliament Street, two employees reported testing positive on presumptive tests for COVID-19. The last day the two worked was on January 8 and 9.

At another Loblaws location in Toronto, 60 Carlton Street, two employees tested positive on presumptive tests for the virus and had last worked on January 9 and 14.

In the last few days and over the weekend, more than 50 Toronto area grocery stores, including Loblaws, Metro, and Sobeys, reported multiple positive COVID-19 cases among their staff.

In an effort for transparency, Loblaws regularly updates their coronavirus cases in stores by province within the last 15 days, as well as Sobey’s for the last 14 days.
