Soufflé is a French verb that means “to breathe” or “to puff,” and these soft bad boys add a whole new delicious meaning to the definition.
During the creation process, the egg whites are beaten to a soft peak to create the distinct fluffy texture that make the end result irresistible.
The soufflé pancakes trend is native to Osaka, Japan, where the pillow-like dessert first
made waves being served at weddings. With their jiggly appearance and lighter-than-air texture, they brought everyone joy.
“I always wanted to have my own shop to be able to turn my pastry recipes into fruition.
I feel like Toronto is the perfect place for me, because my parents live there, and I want
to bring a bit of happiness and be closer to them through my pancakes,” Yuka
Naka, the shop’s co-owner and head pastry chef, said in a release.
So make sure you swing over to Bloor West on Saturday to get your fill of fluffy happiness.
