Toronto fitness studio offering free classes this long weekend

As gyms begin reopening in Toronto on Friday, spin studio Sweat and Tonic has announced it will be offering free classes all weekend long.

Just in time for the long weekend, the downtown studio’s complimentary classes will begin on Friday, July 31, and run until Monday, August 3.

Generally, the studio offers indoor cycling classes, yoga, and HIIT classes.

While some classes have filled up, Sharon Xie, Social Media and Marketing Manager, told Daily Hive that it is a staggered booking process, and has been open to members previously.

The booking will be open to the public, and particularly anyone who wants to try the spin studio, on Thursday at 5 pm.

“Everyone has been missing the actual class experience within the studio, and we wanted to showcase all the initiatives and upgrades that we’ve put in place since COVID hit,” Xie said.

Some of that includes temperature checks for staff and guests, face masks worn in common areas (but optional during classes), social distancing through the space, as well as reduced capacity.

So classes will now be reduced in size, and the studio said it will be running at 40% capacity within the entire facility.

Another big change fitness lovers will notice is new plexiglass dividers between each workout station, as well as service counters.

And remember, spots for this weekend’s classes must be pre-booked.

“We’re just excited to get people back in,” said Xie.

To book a free class, head to Sweat and Tonic’s website at 5 pm.
