Four facing charges after bottles allegedly thrown off 35th floor condo party

Toronto Police have charged more than 10 people after glass bottles were allegedly thrown off the 35th floor of a condo building during a party at a short-term rental.

The Toronto Police Service (TPS) said officers were called to the area of York Street and Lake Shore Boulevard around 2:30 pm on February 21 for reports of a large gathering.

Once on scene, police allegedly observed glass bottles being tossed off of the condo’s balcony onto the road below. The bottles narrowly missed officers, TPS said.

“This could really have killed someone or done some serious damage,” a media relations officer told Daily Hive.

Police discovered “multiple people” inside the condo, which was used as a short-term rental unit.

Seven people have been charged with failing to comply with the emergency orders under the Re-Opening Ontario Act, police said.

Santiago Marquez, 22, Diego Caro Osorio, 23, Jeison Torres, 37, all of Toronto, and Giraldo Angel, 22, of Hamilton, are facing criminal charges.

“The police would like to thank the members of the public for providing video and photo images that assisted in the investigation,” TPS said.

Toronto is under Stay at Home orders until at least March 8.

The orders, which have been in place since January 14, prohibit indoor gatherings with anyone outside of your immediate household, among other restrictions.

Those who do not abide by the measures may be subject to fines or jail time.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 416-808-5200. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
