Spring is in the air, and Toronto is celebrating.

And every May, Cabbagetown residents gather to welcome spring at the annual Forsythia Festival.

Taking place at Wellesley Park, this year’s festivities will take place on Sunday, May 6, from 10 am to 3 pm.

According to organizers, the Forsythia Festival was founded in 1971 by the late Tony Brady, a Cabbagetown resident renowned for his community spirit and love of entertaining young people.

“The Forsythia Festival was his pride and joy and he can be credited with popularizing it as an annual event in Cabbagetown,” states their website.

The spring festival is Cabbagetown’s official welcoming of the new season, and like every year, there will be a parade and a dress code that includes the colour yellow.
