This food and drink festival is turning Ontario Place into a foodie utopia

May 8 2019, 1:39 am

Summertime in Toronto calls for two things: (a) festivals, and (b) savouring mouthwatering food and refreshing drinks.

Soon you’ll be able to enjoy all of this and more at Toronto’s new Forks and Barrels tour. Stopping at Ontario Place from June 7 to 9, the adults-only festival is set to focus on encouraging social connections while you tuck into scrumptious handheld eats and local brews.

Can’t make it to the Toronto festival? Don’t worry — the tour will also be stopping in Kitchener from May 24 to 26, Niagara from July 5 to 7, and Windsor from August 23 to 25.

Curating an innovative experience, Forks and Barrels has been carefully designed to focus on interactivity, selection, and ambiance. So if you’re looking for Ontario’s best food and drink in a picturesque setting, look no further.

Explore themed sections of the festival village including Beer Lane, Wine Avenue, Foodie Central, Spirit Street, Tropica, The Marketplace, and more, where you can sample more than 400 varieties of food and drinks.

And since food samples are just $4, and drink samples $2, attending the event won’t cost you your entire paycheque (always a bonus in our eyes).

Of course, Forks and Barrels doesn’t expect you to be able to taste everything in one single day. You can download the festival app to keep track of everything you’ve sampled and vote for your favourites through the app.

Check out giant murals specially made for Forks and Barrels by 20 street artists as part of the Street Art Competition in the outdoor gallery and vote for the piece that captures your heart through the Forks and Barrels app.

But the festival fun doesn’t stop there.

You can take part in everything from a scavenger hunt, to tournaments, and check out personalized schedules of live acoustic music from local talent each day. What could be better?

The entire Forks and Barrels tour is focused on environmental sustainability, which is why waste will be sorted and recycled at each event — something you don’t see very often at festivals. And vendors will not be permitted to serve attendees with single-use plastics.
