Premier Doug Ford will be providing his announcement on Friday afternoon as the province continues to report high COVID-19 cases.

Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and Todd Smith, Minister of Children, Community and Social Services.

On Thursday, Ford confirmed that Ontario has the first shipment of 100,000 rapid tests.

The premier said that the tests will be prioritized in rural and Northern Ontario as well as vulnerable populations in long-term care and congregate care settings.

“This is a game-changer. It is not everything, but it is a game-changer,” he said at the time.

The daily press briefing will take place at 1 pm from Queen’s Park.
