Oct 6 2020, 1:10 pm

Premier Doug Ford will give an announcement on Tuesday afternoon with top health officials, as Ontario’s new COVID-19 cases remain high.

Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Dr. David Williams, Chief Medical Officer of Health, and Matthew Anderson, President and CEO of Ontario Health.

On Monday, the Ontario government announced that it is providing $35 million to give additional immediate support to schools in COVID-19 hotspots.

Ford said that this funding will go towards school board supports in Peel, Ottawa, Toronto and York Region to provide more staff, custodians, physical distancing in classrooms, or technological improvements for online learning.

He also said that he needs “hardcore evidence” before closing down restaurants in Toronto, adding that he wants “to exhaust every single avenue before I ruin someones life.”

The daily briefing will be held at 1 pm from Queen’s Park.
