Ford to make announcement with education minister this morning
Ontario Premier Doug Ford is set to make announcement on Friday morning with Stephen Lecce.
Since the long weekend, the daily press briefings have been dominated by questions on Ontario’s back to school plan.
On Thursday, the premier and education minister said their plan is the best in the country and defended the additional $309 million funding for schools in order for to students to have a conventional five-day workweek.
“We have the best plan bar none over every province. All of the other provinces are shouting and screaming that they want Ontario’s plan,” Ford said on August 7.
The premier added that the plan is informed by the best pediatricians and health professionals, which Lecce said addresses the principle health concerns by implementing face masks and physical distancing policies.
The plan has raised concern, for some, on elementary school classes not being reduced in size.
The press briefing will take place in Queens Park at 10 am.
