Ford to make announcement with Health Minister this afternoon

Premier Doug Ford will be joined by Health Minister Christine Elliot to make an announcement on Thursday afternoon.

They will be joined by Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and Dr. David Williams, Chief Medical Officer of Health.

On Wednesday, Elliot said the province is preparing for the worst-case scenario as the second wave arrives.

“We have a plan in place to deal with hospital capacity, to deal with testing, to deal with lab capacity, but to allow for surgeries and other procedures to continue which have been postponed from wave one,” she said.

And to improve testing capacity, Elliot said that the province is aiming to have 50,000 tests done a day to “ramp up testing capacity significantly.”

The press briefing will take place at 1:30 pm from Queen’s Park.
