Ford to make announcement on COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday afternoon

Premier Doug Ford is set to make an announcement on the COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday afternoon in Brampton.

Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Solicitor General Sylvia Jones and General Rick Hillier, Chair of the COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force.

Ford has been vocal on the lack of clarity on the distribution of the vaccine in Canada. On Monday he said he believes “incompetence” and “dishonesty” are the reasons for the deficient information on when the vaccine will arrive, how much of it, and which kind of vaccine it will be.

“When you place an order for hundreds of millions of dollars and you aren’t getting answers either – and I’m not accusing anyone of this – something is going on… someone’s not being honest or their is incompetence or maybe both, and I’m not too sure,” he said.

But the premier clarified he wasn’t blaming the federal government or the pharmaceuticals.

The press briefing will take place at 1 pm.
