Ford to make announcement as Ontario enters the second coronavirus wave

Sep 29 2020, 1:15 pm

Premier Doug Ford is expected to make an announcement on Tuesday afternoon, after declaring Ontario is officially in the second COVID-19 wave.

On Monday, Ford said “we know that this will be worse than the first wave, but what we don’t know yet is how bad the second wave will be.”

Ford said that our actions will decide if this is “a wave or a tsunami.”

The province is therefore investing $52.5 million to recruit, retain and support over 3,700 more frontline health care workers and caregivers to ensure the healthcare system can meet any surge in demand.

Ford will be joined by Health Minister Christine Elliott, Minister of Long-Term Care Dr. Merrilee Fullerton, and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams.

The announcement will take place at 1 pm from Queen’s Park.
