Father charged with 1st-degree murder of his 2 young boys

A 52-year-old man from Brampton has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection to the deaths of his two young sons.

On Wednesday, November 6, at approximately 10:55 pm, Peel Regional Police responded to a medical assist call at a residence on Hiberton Crescent in Brampton.

Upon arrival, a 12-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy were located deceased within the residence.

The investigation into the circumstances of what transpired within the residence remains ongoing by investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau.

However, police said this has been determined to be an isolated incident with no threat to the public.

On Thursday, November 7, the father of the two victims, 52-year-old Edwin Bastidas, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing today.
