The Evergreen Brick Works Farmers' Market returns this weekend
The air is warm, the sun is shining, and — while life’s nowhere near normal — the promise of some positivity lingers.
One example? The Evergreen Brick Works Farmers’ Market is reopening this weekend.
On Saturday, June 13, the giant market will once again play host to several local purveyors offering fruit, vegetables, preserves, baked goods, and plenty of other goodies.
Of course, the market will operate differently, in light of how the landscape of social gatherings has changed. Now, visitors will be able to reserve their picks online, making the in-market experience more seamless, and better-suited to physical distancing.

“The goal of the Saturday Farmers Market remains the same — to work with our community and help people make healthier food choices,” reads Evergreen’s website.
“Same day purchases are welcome, but we strongly encourage online ordering so the experience is quicker for you and our farmers.”
Per the market’s new mode of operation, preorders can be placed online here. You can browse through the local vendors — favourites include ChocoSol Traders, Evelyn’s Crackers, Alchemy Pickle Company, and TC Tibetan Momo — and prepay for items that will be ready for your retrieval on Saturday.

“It means so, so much to continue bringing local and in-season food to your dinner plate, in a new and safe way,” reads a post shared by the market on Instagram.
Organizers encourage visitors to review the new market guidelines online ahead of Saturday’s event, which outlines the following requirements:
- Do not attend if you have COVID-19 symptoms, are awaiting test results, have had contact with a probable case, or have recently returned from international travel
- Mandatory masks
- Sanitize hands upon entry
- Practicing patience
- Shopping in groups of two or fewer
- No pets (service animals permitted)
- Follow directional arrows
- Have proof of purchase for preorders handy
- Keep your distance
- Don’t touch products
- Shop quickly – try to reduce your shopping time to 20 minutes
These new measures will help to keep the market experience both enjoyable and safe.
