UPDATE: As of Tuesday morning, Environment Canada upgraded its statement to a Winter Weather Travel Advisory. Read about it here.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Monday afternoon about snow coming to Toronto.

The weather agency is calling for five to 10 centimetres of snow in the city on Tuesday, with accumulations of up to 15 centimetres expected in some areas.

“Rapidly accumulating snow may make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow and blowing snow,” Environment Canada said.

The snowfall is expected to begin around 8 am Tuesday and persist until about 9 pm. It will likely be heavier in the western parts of Toronto, according to the special weather statement.
