Environment Canada issues special weather statement for Toronto

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Toronto on Friday afternoon due to heavy rain in the forecast.

According to the statement, slow moving thunderstorms may result in heavy rain this afternoon.

“A southwest to northeast line of slow moving thunderstorms is affecting portions of the Greater Toronto Area this afternoon. Local rainfall amounts of up to 50 mm are possible by 5 pm.”

It’s expected to feel like 35°C in Toronto on Friday afternoon.

According to Environment Canada, it will be sunny this morning with a mix of sun and clouds later this afternoon.

There is also a risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon, with 30°C as a high, but with the humidex it will feel like 35°C.

Temperatures are expected to get cooler, with a high of 24°C expected on Saturday.

Further into the weekend, Sunday will be sunny and 21°C.
