Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Toronto on Thursday due to heavy rain in the forecast.

According to the statement, heavy rain is possible today.

“An area of rain moving northward from Ohio this morning will cross lake Erie and western sections of Lake Ontario through the middle of the day. There is the potential for rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 millimetres to fall across some areas by this evening,” reads the statement.

Environment Canada states that the rain is associated with the remnants of tropical depression Bertha and is weakening as it moves northward.

“There is still uncertainty about which area will receive the highest amount of rain however rainfall warnings may be issued this morning.”

The high for Thursday is expected to reach 23°C, but will feel like 28°C with the humidex.
