Environment Canada issues special weather statement for Toronto

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Toronto on Saturday morning due to heavy rain in the forecast.

According to the statement, rain, at times heavy, is possible today.

“Hazard: Heavy rain producing local rainfall rates of 25 to 50 mm per hour,” said the statement. “Total rainfall amounts will vary significantly, however local amounts of 50 to 100 mm are possible.”

It also warns that localized flooding is possible, and the timing ranges from morning until this afternoon.

“A rainfall warning may be required for some areas,” said Environment Canada.

It’s expected to feel like 33°C in Toronto this afternoon with the humidex. Thunderstorms are in the forecast as well.

According to Environment Canada, it will continue to rain for the next few days, before sun returns on Tuesday.

If you plan to head out today, stay hydrated, and bring your umbrella.
