Canada’s leading tech and innovation festival, Elevate, is dropping into Toronto this month. And with it comes a whole host of events that you won’t want to miss.

From a conversation with Michelle Obama to special opportunities running along King Street West, here’s what to look out for from September 20 to 26.

Michelle Obama: A Conversation with the Former First Lady

Leading a life of purpose and achievement, Michelle Obama has become an icon of our time. She will drop in to Elevate as her first Canadian visit after her record breaking book tour for her work, Becoming. This is a separately ticketed event. Festival pass holders may purchase up to four tickets on a first come, first served basis.

Elevate King West

Elevate King West spans two nights of activations, pop-ups, partnerships, and game-changing innovation, exploring where art, fashion, wellness, culinary arts, and entertainment collide. Covering two nights from 4 pm to 4 am and including over 30 venues across a three-block stretch between Spadina and Bathurst, the series is inspired by the vibrancy of the world’s best multi-disciplinary tech fests. Trust that whether you’re looking to wind up or cool down, there’s something happening that’s meant for you. King West events are open to Festival Pass holders unless otherwise stated.

Startup Open House

Job seekers, curious professionals, and ecosystem leaders will be welcomed into Toronto’s tech and innovation community on this special day. Choose your own adventure and visit the world’s most innovative companies as you step into the offices of Toronto’s most vibrant startups and get a real feel of the startup culture, vibe, and vision.

Main Stage

This stage is set to see an exhibition of the most influential leaders, companies, and brands in tech and innovation. The Elevate Main Stage will feature full days of talks from world-class thought leaders, networking with industry champions, and live pitching from startups competing to become the next big thing. Don’t miss out.

Tech Jam

This inclusive hackathon will bring together a diverse mix of top talent to create solutions for the greater good. The event welcomes up to 1,000 participants, working in teams of four to six people, applying their skills towards solving some of the world’s most pressing problems. Get ready for the creation of a better future.

When: September 20 to 22

In addition to Michelle Obama, notable speakers at this year’s festival will include: astronaut Chris Hadfield, author Guy Kawasaki, CEO of Vimeo Anjali Sud, co-founder and chief brand officer of Away Luggage Jen Rubio, and founder of Akoin and musician, Akon.

Festival passes start at $200 and are available online.
