Here's how you can get half-price brunch in the Distillery District right now

Feb 3 2020, 5:06 pm

While many are hiding inside on these chilly days, others are choosing to embrace them.

And if you’re an embracer who also loves brunch, this new offering from El Catrin is for you.

From now until March 1, the iconic Mexican joint is opening its patio to those looking to combine brunch foods with an adventurous experience.

Every Saturday and Sunday, El Catrin will celebrate the Toronto Light Festival by lighting its fire pit, turning on the outdoor heaters, and serving piping hot Mexican brunch.

If you can stand to dine outside for your whole meal, you’ll get to enjoy the eats for half-price.

The reservation-only experience will feature 25 massive heaters, one giant fire-pit, lots of serapes (read: blankets) and a four-course brunch, served exclusively on the patio.

Sopa de Tortilla, Capirotada, Huevos Canasta, Crepas, Enfrijoladas, and Warm Cinnamon Spiced Churros are the steamy items on the menu for the special series of meals.

The price is $36, but guests who last the entire meal outdoors will be rewarded with a 50% discount (that’s $18 for a four-course meal).

And, whether you complete the challenge or not, for each meal served, one simple and healthy meal will be provided to a youth in need thanks to a partnership with Mealshare.

Take note: The event won’t be running during “extreme cold,” when a temperature of -15°C or colder, or a wind chill of -20°C or colder is forecasted by Environment Canada. But otherwise, it’s on… snow or shine.

Are you up for the challenge?
