7 easy snacks and spreads we can't get enough of

Dec 18 2020, 3:53 pm

It’s finally beginning to look a lot like winter in Toronto, with snowfall and twinkling lights abound.

Although we’re now embracing the intermittent snowflakes,Ā we’re perfecting our snack lineup for the days when we’ll be spending even more time at home. The criteria? Each item needs to have a quick prep time and involve little or no baking.

After testing out a bunch of different recipes and snack combinations, we found seven incredibly convenient options we’ll be relying on throughout the season. So, put on your cozy sweater, settle into a comfortable spot on the sofa, and dive in.

We could all do with a little R&R this season — fact. Preparing a simple baked recipe is a great way to spend the afternoon before you watch back-to-back winter movies, curled up under a snug blanket. For something sweet and salty, we recommend making popcorn bars. Use theĀ almond butter in your pantry, whole grainĀ Angieā€™s BOOMCHICKAPOP Lightly Sweet Popcorn, some white chocolate chips, and maple syrup. Tuck in and delight in every bite.

Charcuterie board

Whether you’re dedicating an evening to binge-watching a series or discussing plans for the future with your partner over a bottle of wine, having a charcuterie board at the ready means you won’t have the urge to explore the kitchen cabinets. Assemble the board with cured meats, cheese, almonds, olives, grapes, andĀ Angieā€™s BOOMCHICKAPOP White Chocolaty and Peppermint Flavoured Kettle CornĀ —Ā the unexpected twist that brings it all together.

Snack mix

If you’re like us, chances are you missed out on a lot of movie theatre nights this year — and the sweets that come along with those outings. But don’t worry, you can take your snack game to the next level at home with a DIY snack mix. Dip some strawberries in chocolate and serve alongsideĀ Angieā€™s BOOMCHICKAPOP Sea Salt Popcorn, jellies, and M&M’s, and let the mix transport you to a candy wonderland.

Mini pizza

Recreate the restaurant experience at home in a fraction of the time by making mini pizzas. The hack? Purchase frozen dough at your local supermarket. The options for toppings are endless, and you could even put the leftovers from your weekend dinner to use this way. We suggest trying cranberry sauce on the side for that extra something savoury.

Cinnamon rolls

The season doesn’t ever feel complete until you’ve taken in the aromas of cinnamon flowing from freshly-baked buns. Once you’ve baked a helping of these treats for your favourite people, decorate the batch with a vanilla cream cheese glaze. Sprinkling some Angieā€™s BOOMCHICKAPOP Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn on top is the ultimate game-changer.

Hummus platter

If you’re craving something savoury, but you don’t want to spend more than 15 minutes whipping it up, a hummus platter is an ideal solution. All you need is a packet of crackers, sliced carrots, sliced cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and hummus (store-bought or homemade) with a dash of olive oil. Dip away while you do your new year shopping online.

Chocolaty popcorn

When you’re doing everything from working (and working out) at home to hosting video hangouts with friends, it’s helpful to have a quick snack at hand.Ā Angieā€™s BOOMCHICKAPOPĀ Dark Chocolaty Drizzled Sea Salt Kettle Corn is a winner in our eyes. It’s convenient enough to have a bag in the car (or in your backpack) while you’re on the move or to keep on your desk for when the afternoon slump hits — but you need to keep crushing it.

This season, although things are a little different, remember to celebrate the small victories along the way. Order a selection of Angieā€™s BOOMCHICKAPOP non-GMO and gluten-free popcorn flavours via walmart.caĀ or loblaws.ca, or look out for the season-perfect snack at major retail locations in Toronto.
