Dua Lipa shocks staff at an Ontario restaurant by popping in for lunch
The owners at an Ontario restaurant were levitating with excitement after pop star Dua Lipa visited for lunch during a tour stop in Toronto.
Toronto is riddled with celebrity hot spots; those places that simply don’t surprise you when so-and-so A-lister swings by for a bite to eat. Heck, we even put together a whole list of them.
There’s something extra special, then, when the stars grace decidedly less sceney spots with their presence, and that’s exactly what happened for Unionville Mediterranean restaurant, Watercolour, on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
You heard that right, not only was Lipa spotted dining among the normal folk at a local restaurant, but she even ventured beyond Toronto city limits to do so.
On a break between two lively nights at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, Lipa ventured out to do a little sightseeing of her own, which, evidently, included delving into the area’s culinary scene at the chic GTA fine dining restaurant.
A representative from the restaurant tells Dished Toronto that it was a “wonderful surprise for the whole team” to learn that the “Dance the Night” singer would be stopping by the restaurant, sharing that they “only found out at the very last minute” before she and her team arrived.
“We’re not sure exactly how she discovered us, but the fact that she chose Watercolour for her only Canadian stop made it even more special,” the representative tells Dished Toronto. “We were beyond excited to welcome her here — it was such an honour!”
The restaurant tells Dished Toronto that Lipa was “absolutely incredible,” describing the singer as “gracious, kind, and down to earth,” not to mention “she has fantastic taste in food.”
According to the restaurant, Lipa and her team opted to sample almost everything on the menu, relaxing into a lengthy, leisurely lunch on the restaurant’s private terrace.
“We feel incredibly grateful and proud that she chose Watercolour,” the restaurant representative tells Dished Toronto. “It’s the kind of moment that reminds us why we do what we do.”

After the meal, the star (looking stylish as ever, might we add) even stopped to snap a picture with a few members of the team before she went Houdini back to Toronto to play her second sold-out show.
It’s moments like these that go to show radical optimism really does pay off sometimes.
