There's a drive-in Raptors viewing party in Toronto today

Aug 30 2020, 5:13 pm

There’s a Toronto Raptors viewing party on Sunday for fans who are looking for a (safe) crowd experience during this very unique NBA season.

After a player-led boycott temporarily halted the finals, the Raps will be returning to play Game 1 against the Boston Celtics at 1 pm this afternoon, and super fans have the chance to watch it all go down live on a massive 40-foot screen, during a drive-in viewing party at OLG Play Stage in Ontario Place.

“Raptors fans will be able to come together safely to enjoy and experience the excitement of playoff basketball at the new drive-in entertainment venue,” organizers said in a release. “With the skyline as the backdrop, the event will include special guests, giveaways as well as special programming before the game.”

Besides just the game, Kat Stefankiewicz, Toronto Raptors in-arena host, will be leading the pre-show alongside the Raptors’ mascot.

Admission for each vehicle requires a minimum donation of $25, which will go toward the MLSE Foundation and will be available on a game-by-game basis.

Food and apparel will also be for sale through RS (Real Sports) and Real Sports Apparel when purchasing tickets online as well as on-site.

Gates open at 12 pm, and the festivities kick-off at 12:30 pm, with the game scheduled for 1 pm. Vehicles are ticketed for a specific lot, and parking is general admission, so get there early to grab the perfect spot.

For everyone’s safety, there will be a few basic rules. No fan is allowed to leave their vehicle except to go to the restroom, masks and face coverings must be worn outside of vehicles, and everyone is expected to follow physical distancing guidelines at all times.

There will also be no alcohol, coolers, glass bottles, or cameras with detachable lenses allowed.

Anyone who can’t make it tonight shouldn’t worry, as there are also viewings scheduled for August 19, 21, and 23 — assuming the Nets don’t give up.
