Farm near Toronto hosting strawberry-themed Canada Day celebration

If the upcoming mid-week holiday has you hankering for some time out of the city, why not make a day trip out to Caledon for some strawberry-infused fun?

During normal times, Downey’s Farm hosts an annual Strawberry Festival on Canada Day featuring live entertainment, a strawberry pancake breakfast, and more.

This year, those activities are off the table due to the pandemic, but the farm is still offering up some sweet, fruity festivities that’ll get you hyped for a mid-week day off work.

Everyone’s invited to don their brightest reds and whites and head to the farm, just 50 minutes from Toronto, to pick-your-own strawberries starting as early as 7:30 am.

The Farm Store will open at 9 am, with a variety of sweet treats bursting with berries on offer. Also on-site for the day will be a chip wagon, opening up at 11 am and slingin’ hot, steamy fries, perfect for a carb-loaded lunchtime.

All day long, you’ll be able to stock up on fresh kettle corn alongside strawberry everything. We’re talkin’ strawberry lemonade, strawberry doughnuts, strawberry pastries, strawberry apple cider, strawberry pies, and more.

And last but not least, the spot’s wine stand will be open for the day as well.

Drop by that section to quench your thirst with strawberry rhubarb sangria, strawberry apple hard cider, strawberry wine, and plenty of other boozy refreshments.
