Dodgers player claps back at Sportsnet analyst who called Toronto Blue Jays the 'better team'

A Sportsnet analyst went viral for calling the Toronto Blue Jays the “better team” after their World Series loss, but one L.A. Dodgers player is clapping back.

Ex-MLB catcher-turned-baseball-analyst Caleb Joseph had some strong words to say after Game 7 of the World Series. While on the field during the Dodgers’ celebration, he was not afraid to express his disappointment in the Blue Jays’ loss, giving what he described as a “sour grapes” tirade, where he proclaimed Toronto as being the better team despite losing.

The moment sparked tons of social media attention, with some Blue Jays fans agreeing, while others labelled Joseph as a sore loser. As for what the Dodgers players think, outfielder Kiké Hernández took to Instagram to seemingly mock the Sportsnet analyst.

He posted a photo of himself on a plane holding the World Series trophy that included a cheeky caption aimed at Joseph.

“I’M SO HAPPY THE BETTER TEAM DIDN’T WIN!!” Hernández wrote.

The 34-year-old outfielder has now won the World Series three times with the Dodgers, with the first coming back in 2020 during his first stint with the club. He was also a thorn in the side of the Blue Jays all series long.

Hernández was the one who made the heads-up play in the bottom of the ninth that doubled up Andres Gimenez and Addison Barger in Game 6 to end a late push from Toronto.

It’s no surprise that the Dodgers are having fun with Joseph’s comments, as it doesn’t really matter if you think the Blue Jays were better or not. L.A. won the World Series, and there is nothing anybody can say to change that fact, and the Dodgers know that.

This will remain a tough loss to get over for Canadian baseball fans, but one they will have to ultimately accept, no matter how good the underlying stats looked for the Blue Jays throughout the World Series.
