David Ortiz kept chirping the Yankees for blowout losses to Blue Jays in Toronto

David Ortiz might not exactly be the biggest fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, but there’s no doubt who he’s cheering for in the American League Wild Card Series.

Ortiz, a 10-time All-Star during his 14 seasons with the Boston Red Sox, seemed to be taking quite the pleasure in seeing the Blue Jays demolish the New York Yankees during their first two playoff games.

While Toronto still needs to win one more game to advance to the American League Championship Series, they’ve certainly looked the part in their first two games. Scoring 23 runs over two days, Ortiz was in full-on trolling mode over his hated Yankees rivals.

“They can bring Jesus back, and they’re still going to go to Cancun,” Ortiz said on Fox’s postgame show. “It’s over. It’s a wrap, just so you know. This Toronto Blue Jays lineup ain’t playing around.”

Ortiz got the ability to chirp a few old rivals in Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, both of whom were two of the biggest faces of the Yankees throughout the 2000s.

“I love you so much, but the only chance the Yankees have is if you, [Mariano Rivera], Andy [Pettitte], and A-Rod come back and play. Reggie Jackson, Babe Ruth, all of them,” Ortiz added. “Joe DiMaggio… Roger Maris…”

Ortiz’s signature catchphrase during his time on the MLB on Fox desk has been three words: “Da Yankees lose!”

And the Yankees have had a lot of playoff heartbreak over the past few years. They’ve made the postseason eight of the past nine years, but managed to make it to the World Series just once, being bested four games to one by the Dodgers last fall.

While we don’t know how the rest of the series will play out, we can only bet that Ortiz will be praying on the Yankees’ downfall for his next viral moment.
