Creme Egg brownies, lattes, and cakes have returned to Toronto
Easter is still a month out but you know the holiday is on the way because Creme Eggs have returned to store shelves. Better still, made-from-scratch Creme Egg-inspired creations have started to pop-up at bakeries in the GTA.
While the classic confection boasts a molten yellow yolk that’s a delight to break into, the flavours of cream eggs are even better when reimagined in cake form by bakeries like The Rolling Pin in Toronto and Cake & Loaf in Hamilton.
Creme Egg Brownies have hatched at both bakeries already, though Cake & Loaf might deserve a dedicated pilgrimage.
The Hamilton bakery is also serving Creme Egg lattes and hot chocolates, as well as taking pre-orders in advance of Easter (order before March 22) for a range of Easter-time treats including chocolate cake layered with Swiss meringue buttercream and brownie chunks, then finished with a poured ganache glaze and crowned with chunks of Creme Egg Brownies.
