Herd of cows roamed Highway 401 following transport truck collision
A herd of cows was spotted travelling down Highway 401 in Mississauga after a transport truck carrying the animals struck a barrier over the weekend.
The truck driver was hauling the cattle when he hit a cement barrier in the westbound lanes approaching Hurontario Street around 11:30 pm on Friday, March 29, according to OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.
As a result of the collision about a dozen cows managed to escape from the truck, however, another 12 cows were found deceased inside the trailer.
The truck driver was also transported to a hospital to be treated for “minor injuries.”

Images shared on social media by authorities show the loose cows walking together down the highway as firefighters tried to corral them.

Following the collision, 36-year-old George Scott from Mount Forest has been charged with careless driving.
