6 urban adventures every Torontonian needs to try at least once

When was the last time you really experienced your city?

It’s safe to say that the majority of us take the beauty of getting out and about in the place we live in for granted — but the truth is, adventuring doesn’t need to happen hours away from home. Locals and visitors alike can embrace a sense of fun and adventure in their own backyards, and CLIF Bar wants to prove it!

Earlier this year, CLIF Bar launched its “Make it Good” campaign, which encourages Canadians to experience local urban adventures in their city.

This month, CLIF Bar’s tricked-out adventure trailers will be rolling through the GTA to inspire locals, give tips on local urban adventures and activities, offer samples of new CLIF Bar energy foods, and provide a few surprises.

Those dropping by the trailer will also be able to learn more about how CLIF Bar helps protect the places Canadians explore and play, especially with partners like The Great Trail and Protect Our Winters.

Inspired by CLIF Bar’s example, here are our suggestions for six urban adventures that every Torontonian needs to try at least once.

Do yoga in Trinity Bellwoods Park

Trinity Bellwoods Park is one of the perfect spots to hit up for an urban adventure in Toronto. Featuring three ball diamonds, eight tennis courts, two volleyball courts, an artificial ice rink, an off-leash area for dogs, a picnic zone, and a wading pool, it’s honestly one of the best places to escape from city life!

The park is also known for its weekly community yoga sessions. If you’re in the mood to stretch it out in the great outdoors, Trinity Bellwoods Park should be your go-to.

Ride around Canoe Landing Park

Canoe Landing Park features two multipurpose sports fields, so it’s a great place to get some adventuring done in the city. There are five bicycle trails, too, so you have plenty of choices if you want to go for a leisurely ride in the morning, afternoon, or anytime, really!

Experience the EdgeWalk at the CN Tower

If you’re seeking more of a thrilling urban adventure, one of the best spots (and most well-known!) is, of course, the CN Tower. A must-do is the EdgeWalk, the world’s highest full-circle, hands-free walk, which takes you around the ledge encircling the top of the tower. Be sure to check out the tower’s six high-speed elevators as well, which can zip you to the top at 22 kilometres per hour.

Go on a foodie adventure at St. Lawrence Market

With its astounding diversity of merchants, St. Lawrence Market is one of the world’s greatest. There’s so much to see, taste, and discover; the only issue is where to start! The market itself is comprised of three main buildings: the South Market, the North Market, and St. Lawrence Hall.

If you’re looking for an urban adventure with a side of _, take a walk through this incredible market. With all the sights and sounds, you’ll be in for a wild sensory experience.

Head over to Ward’s Island for a round of disc golf

Yes, it’s a real thing. Hop on a ferry to Ward’s Island and spend the afternoon playing some disc golf. You can play on their challenging world-class course while enjoying stunning views of the Toronto skyline. It’s definitely a unique activity, and easy for beginners to pick up, too! The course on the island is free to play, and renting discs is inexpensive.

Take a boutique fitness class

CLIF x BOLO

Check out a barre class, a spin class, or a boxing workout in downtown Toronto for an intense workout. There’s plenty to choose from, including Barreworks, BOLO, and SoulCycle. Who said you can’t get your sweat on in the middle of bustling downtown? It’s way easier than you think to seek out new activities right in your own community.

You still have one last chance to head to CLIF Bar’s Make it Good Adventure Trailer on August 28 at St. Patrick’s Field (49 Felstead Avenue).

You don’t need to climb a mountain to have an adventure! It’s time to get out and try new urban adventures in your own city. For more information, visit clifbar.ca.
