Where to celebrate National Ice Cream Day in Toronto this weekend

Jul 16 2020, 6:24 pm

It’s spicy hot out, Toronto. What better time for National Ice Cream Day to descend upon the city?

On July 19, sweet-tooth-havers across the country are invited to dedicate the full day to indulging in this iconic, refreshing, and creamy treat.

If you — like us — are in the mood to celebrate, consult this list for the spots offering ice cream to-go, or even for delivery, across Toronto right now:

This spot’s Bay and Dundas location is open daily from noon to 6 pm with an in-store limit of two customers at one time. You can also place orders online for next-day delivery. On top of their delightful ice cream offerings (Baker’s Tiramisu), you can also indulge in cake, cookies, sweetbreads, and more. All the better to eat ice cream with, we’d say…

It’s not ice cream, it’sĀ gelato.Ā Made with local dairy and produce, the flavours that come out of this little shop are wild. A “gooseberry mint,” “spicy chocolate,” “cheeseboard,” “corn-on-the-cob” type of wild. Officially reopened, you can drop by the Dundas West storefront and grab yourself a sweet treat to go.

Bang Bang has some unreal flavours — ranging from Soybean Walnut to Avocado, plus everything in between. Of course, we’d be remiss not to mention that youĀ must pair your sweet treat with one of the spot’s egg waffle cones, cinnamon buns, or giant, gooey cookies, in order to get the most out of the experience.

They’re open for takeout, but keep your distance from other people, people.

This spotā€™s doing something special. Their vegan soft serve is banana-based and always full of healthy, nourishing, whole food ingredients. Think of natural peanut butter, crushed pistachios, matcha powder, cacao, and juicy berries as the infusions and toppings available with your order from this spot.

This ice cream is different for one reason: custard. It’s made with custard. Creamy, refreshing, bursting with fresh flavour, and made with no artificial preservatives or stabilizers, you can preorder pints of this sinfully good dessert online for pickup at Empire Espresso — keep an eye on their Instagram account for weekly drops on Thursdays.Ā
