Charcuterie and wine kits launch for delivery in Toronto

The events of this past year have reminded us all that we don’t need to wait for a special occasion to have a reason to celebrate.

Days roll into weeks and weeks into months without us even pausing to embrace the joie de vivre. But Campo Viejo is on a mission to change that with the launch of its exclusive Campo Hour Kit, now available for delivery across the GTA.

To create the perfect at-home kit, Campo Viejo has partnered with chef and owner of Fidel Gastro’s, Matt Basile. Inside each box, you’ll find everything you need to restore a little vibrancy to your days: a bottle of Campo Viejo Reserva, charcuterie crafted by Basile, and tote bags waiting for your artistic touch.

Campo Viejo is passionate about living life colourfully and encouraging others to share moments and ideas to create meaningful experiences safely (whether in-person or virtually). Basile seconds this and has created simple, meaningful tips for us all to follow during the darkest time of the year.

Set the mood with music

First and foremost, create an atmosphere in your space. “Music can hugely impact the energy level and tone for your setting, so always be mindful of the volume and style,” says Basile. But make sure you don’t have music playing so loudly that you can’t hear people talk or too softly that it’s barely audible. Basile’s playlist recommendation? “Funk outta here” on Spotify.

Create an aromatic scent

Since many of us live in small spaces, cooking food often sends aromas through every corner of our home. That’s why utilizing your oven is a great way to bring a holiday scent into your place with one key ingredient: vanilla extract. Basile recommends putting two tablespoons of vanilla extract into an oven-safe dish, then placing it in the oven for one hour at 300°F. “It’s a simple yet elegant touch that fills the room with cozy aromatics.”

Serve with the right stemware

The presentation of your wine makes all the difference when it comes to tasting and aesthetics. “A high-quality wine, like Campo Viejo Reserva, only deserves to be sipped from a high-quality vessel,” says Basile. When choosing a glass to serve your rouge, opt for one with a large and wide bowl. This will allow your nose to recognize more aromas and help aerate the wine as you sip to release more flavour.

Style your charcuterie board

As always, the first bite is with the eye — especially with a charcuterie board. Basile suggests getting dynamic when styling your board. To start, spread everything out so it doesn’t look cluttered. Using mini mason jars for sauces, jams, or pickled items keeps the board clean and gives you some contrasting height. “Make sure you mix up your board with meat and cheese, some nuts and fruit, crostini and crackers, and a variety of non-meat items, like olives and pickled vegetables, to ensure you are appealing to everyone’s taste palate.”

Campo Hour Kits cost $39.50 each and are available for delivery via Stackt MarketUber Eats, and SkipTheDishes. The price of each kit includes bottle deposits. Remember, those who order a kit must be 19 or older.
