A fundraiser has been started to save Frankie Tomatto from closure following the news of the restaurant’s decision to shut its doors for good.

The campaign was created on August 26, the same day the Italian buffet restaurant shared an update to their followers on social media of their decision.

One fan of the locale has taken the recent news to heart and decided to raise money to support the restaurant, as they were unable to welcome customers back due to regulations limiting this style of dining to reopen.

“I grew up in Scarborough and Markham, this place has been a very special restaurant for my family,” said Sherry Wang, the organizer behind the fundraiser.

“When it comes to celebration, going to Frankie Tomatto makes me excited always. The food and service had always been good. I hope we can help to save them because it’s not just a restaurant, it’s a community, it means family, love and togetherness.”

Before shutting down permanently, the restaurant has decided to say “good-bye” to long-time fans and customers of Frankie Tomatto’s by giving out free pizzas in their parking lot on August 29 from 11:30 am to 3 pm (drive-in with vehicle only).

The restaurant vows to donate $1 for every car to the Easter Seals.

So far, the page has raised just a bit over $100 towards its $25,000 goal.

Daily Hive has reached out to Wang for comment.
