Calzone Guinness World Record broken in GTA this weekend

Vaughan Pizza Fest took place just north of Toronto this past weekend, and it made history.
For the first time ever, the Vaughan Pizza Fest team — which consists of pizza makers from across Ontario — attempted to set the Guinness World Record title for the longest calzone.
And on Sunday, July 14, they succeeded.

A team of hands assembled the doughy, saucy, cheesy beast. The end result? Over 59 feet of glutenous, gooey, hot, and melty perfection.
It took 400 pounds of dough, 80 kilograms of Saputo mozzarella cheese, 40 kilograms of Saputo dry cured pepperoni and 12 kilograms of Italian peeled tomatoes to create this (big) baby… and it looks totally worth it.

And as for the rest of the weekend, the three-day event took place at Revel (formerly Interchange) Park from July 12 to 14.
The event highlighted pizzerias from across the province, pizza-eating contests, and a variety of mouthwatering eats and ingredients that visitors could take home to stock their shelves.
In addition to eating, live entertainment included Jersey Shore’s DJ Pauly D spinning tunes on Saturday night.
And if that sounds like a party to you — which we know it does — start saving your appetite for next year!
