Some Buffalo Bills fans located south of the border are pleading with those in Toronto to stop rooting on their team.
It’s no secret that Toronto seems to be cursed when it comes to their pro sports teams. The Maple Leafs haven’t won a Stanley Cup since 1967 and find new ways to disappoint their fan base every year.
And we’re still not over the Blue Jays’ loss in Game 7 of the World Series.
That loss, paired with a Bills loss to the lowly Miami Dolphins this past week, resulted in a fan typing out a hilarious message and posting it in the streets of Toronto.
“Please, please stop rooting for us,” the message begins.
“Toronto sports fans… This isn’t funny anymore. The Dolphins? The Dolphins?
“We get it — you need something. The Leafs are hurting. The Raps are hopeless. And we can’t imagine that Game 7, eleventh-inning, runner-on-third-with-one-out loss must have felt like. But are you noticing a common thread?”
The individual also included that Buffalo will claim Lake Eerie and Bills fans in that region, while allowing Toronto to claim Lake Ontario and switch their allegiance elsewhere.
“You can come down to Trader Joe’s every other weekend (only when the Bills are on the road, of course), and we’ll come up to shop at your local outlet malls on the ones in between.”
The author also wrote a funny, break-up styled note at the end of the letter.
“We know it’s not going to be easy for you to stop rooting for us, but if you love us, you’ll let us go.”

Buffalo sports fans have to be feeling rather cursed also.
While the Bills have been an elite NFL team in recent years, they have failed to win a Super Bowl. The team also famously lost four straight Super Bowls in the early 1990s.
Their other major pro sports team, the Buffalo Sabres, has never won a Stanley Cup. They’ve also missed the playoffs in 14 straight years.
