Brampton man charged after allegedly false claims of contact with COVID-19 patient

A Brampton man has been arrested after he allegedly claimed falsely to have had contact with someone who had tested positive for COVID-19, according to Peel Regional Police.
Officers say they were contacted by a Brampton business owner on Monday, March 30, at about 9:15 am.
The man had reportedly shut down his business and sent all employees home after a worker called on March 27 to say that a family member had tested positive for coronavirus.
Police said that further investigation revealed the information was false — there was no family member exposed or ill.
A man, 39-years-old, was charged with Public Mischief.
